Handling the Psychological Pain – 1

Handling the Psychological Pain – 1

WITH A PSYCHO DRAMA

WHAT IS PAIN?

The medical definition of the word ‘pain’ can be expressed in different classifications, but the exact meaning refers to an irritation as a reflection of when something is wrong in our mind or body. what’s that something? For example, in case of physical pain, if you are diagnosed with Diabetes, then it is the result of malfunctioning of a certain cluster of cells called islets of Langerhans which is scattered in Pancreas. This is a physical condition which can be diagnosed with certain symptoms, “reasons” and also cured or controlled with certain medications which is purposely designed for that particular symptom and reason. But when you come to mental pain, there too, many symptoms, their diagnostics, and their treatments are established in modern day medicine. But there is a problem!!

MEDICAL REALITY

There are many psychological disorders such as Schizophrenia,OCD,Bipolar, etc., which can be diagnosed with reference to patient’s history, anxiety levels, depressive phase, behaviour and other abnormalities. They too controlled with certain medication which controls the chemical secretion such as Dopamine,Seratonin, etc., Which is responsible for depression and mood swings. But the impact is, for example if person ‘A’ is suffering from a breakup because of the sudden absence of his partner, has high depression, sucidical thoughts and diagnosed with schizophrenia and prescribed with certain medication, on other hand person ‘B’ is suffering from business loss, has high depression, sucidical thoughts and diagnoised with schizophrenia and prescribed with the same medication given to person ‘A’.They both get in control with this medication and starts living a healthy life,So the doctor too stopped their medicines. But at some point, after several months, all these psychological difficulties return back to the patient ‘A’, may be in a different form like he rejects marriage, feeling of palpitation while mingling to Female Gender, etc. So again he is consulting docs, they prescribing medicines and this pattern is working in a cycle. If you don’t get what I am coming to say, I am here with another example. If you had malaria, you will surely get fever. If you just take a paracetamol (an antipyretic), your fever diminishes for a short period of time. But after 4-5 hours your fever returns back. This is because you are taking medication for the symptom (fever) and not for the core factor plasmodium that causes malaria. This is the same happening in the psychological treatment. The person ‘A’ got a defect in part of his mind (core) but he is taking medication for depression, anxiety, etc (symptoms).unfortunately there is no medicine discovered for treating the mind, as we don’t know where and how the mind is.So the ultimate solution we found is psychotherapy.in earlier stages doctors rarely trust psychotherapist, but modern day doc’s trust them rarely.
